Exploring Active Travel

This week we had Jan from Christchurch City Council visit Rāwhiti School to teach us about Active Travel and road safety. As part of the Exploring Active Travel programme, we had some wheel time to practice the skills we had learnt. We had to follow the arrows to travel the right way, there were give-way signs and pedestrian crossings to stop at. We are looking forward to Wednesday when the rest of our class will get to complete the programme.

Check us out on our wheels!

Welcome back to 2024!

Welcome back to 2024 in Papatūānuku! We have had a fantastic first few weeks back at kura after our long summer apart.

In Papatūānuku we have been learning about our cultural narrative and who our studio is named after. As part of this learning we created a huge kōwhai tree with Lisa which now takes up a WHOLE wall. With Courtney, we made little kōwhai flowers to attach to the tree. Each of us then coloured in a pīwakawaka (fantail) and Whaea Emma took our photos and we stuck them on as the  pīwakawaka’s faces. Now we have our beautiful kōwhai tree covered in little Papatūānuku looking pīwakawaka in our studio. Come and check it out!
